God Guides

S: psalm 19:14NIV- May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

O: This is a beautiful psalm written by David that describes how the boundaries The Lord sets for us are really instructions to experience real freedom. He says things like, "the law revives the soul," and "His commands give light to the eyes."  David is encouraging believers to delight in the laws of The Lord.  Out of a desire to live a life that is pleasing to God, David declares in verse 14 that he wants his words and thoughts to line up with Gods commands.

A:  Everything we think, say, or do should be in response to what God has done for us. I understand David's sentiment in this passage because he was a man of many faults, but still managed to be a man that the Bible describes as "A man after Gods own heart." As believers we can't allow our mistakes to define who we are.  Mistakes are meant to build and shape you, but God already has the finished product of your life in mind.  We need to rest in the fact that God already knew what He wanted to do with us before He created us. Our job is to be obedient to the guidelines He has set in place for us. He gives us guidance not to restrict us, but to show us the full potential of a life in constant relationship with Him.  I desire to live a righteous life as a response to my, "Rock and Redeemer," as David describes Him in verse 14.  Out of a desire to please God, we should always maintain the integrity of our speech, and our thoughts, knowing that if we will be obedient to Him, He will allow us to live our lives to their maximum potential.  I've have heard it said that, "The lives we live are a result of the things we say and believe."  I don't want to spend another day wasting my thoughts or words, knowing that what I believe and say will create the future I'm destined to live.

P: God thank You for another opportunity to live my life as a response to what You have already done for me. Help me to focus my words and my thoughts on things that are pleasing to You. Amen.
