S: Galatians 2:10NIV- All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I had been eager to do all along.
O: Paul had a life altering experience that persuaded him to believe in Jesus. From that moment on he went from city to city preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. On his return to Jerusalem, he met with some apostles and declared the same gospel to them, he had been ministering to the Gentiles. Un-wavered by what their opinions might be, he was confident that God called him to minister to the Gentiles in the same way God called Peter to minister to the Jews. Upon meeting with James, Peter, and John, they approved of his message and recognized the grace God had on his ministry to preach to the Gentiles. Their only stipulation was that Paul should continue to remember the poor, which was fine for him because that was his heart.
A: I love this verse because it's a reminder that your place in ministry, should never determine your place amongst people. I never want to find myself in a place in ministry where I have forgotten about the people that everyone else forgets. The Bible says in Mark 14:7, "the poor will always be among us." People, no matter what their place in life, always need to be a priority for believers, because people are the greatest resource God ever created. We are all Gods children, therefore people should always be our heart. I love what the Word says in Proverbs 3:27, "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. Our positions in life doesn't give us power, the heart to do the right thing does. God has called us to remember those in need, just as He remembers us when we need Him.
P: God thank you for blessing me, so that I can continue to be a blessing to others. Always help me to keep an open eye and and open heart to people in desperate situations. Amen.
