S: 1 Samuel 14:7NIV- “Do all that you have in mind,” his armor-bearer said. “Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul.”
O: Jonathan snuck away from his father Saul's army, with his armor bearer, to attack the philistine army. When Jonathan revealed what he planned to do, his young armor bearer, he replied, “Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul.”
A: This is an amazing story because it reveals a very simple truth. Sometimes the only thing standing between you and victory are the people who go with you. Although God handed the Philistines over to Jonathan, his armor bearer signed up for the task before he knew the outcome, because he had already decided that he was with him heart and soul. When you attach heart and soul to a vision, no battle is too great, no task is too tough, no request is out of scope because your heart trumps what's in your head. It didn't make sense for two young men to attack an army privately, but two men plus God sent and army into an uproar. Loyalty to vision says, I'll go even if I don't know where I'm going or what I'm going for, because I don't need to know those things, to know Gods going to be there when I get there. It's always important to take the right people on the journey with you, because they may be the deciding factor on if you go or not. I don't know if Jonathan would have went to fight the philistines alone, but I do know that an unnamed man was loyal enough to follow him. We never get his name, but because of his heart, his legacy lives on for generations to come. Today, if you choose to go, do it with HEART and SOUL.
P: God thank You for the people in my life who are heart and soul. Help me to be a person that puts my heart and soul into anything You call me to do. Amen.
